Pride weekend: June 10–11

There are two ways to get involved with your Foundry family at this year's DC Pride events!

Hospitality on the Plaza
Help us provide radical hospitality on June 10th! We will serve water on our plaza and open our building for bathroom use. Serve the full time from 2-6p.m. or register for a two hour long shift in between (2–4 p.m. or 4–6 p.m.).

*This year the parade route has shifted away from 16th and P Street NW. While this is different, we're happy to be able to provide hospitality to the community!

Questions? Email Jackie Wright at jackie@foundryumc.org with any questions!

March in the parade!
Be a part of the 2023 National Capitol Pride Parade with Foundry and other United Methodists from the DMV and bear witness to God's radical welcome. Exact time and location will be shared closer to the date, but please plan to join us mid-afternoon (around 3 p.m.) in the staging area in the greater Dupont Circle area. We will celebrate Holy Communion with other area United Methodists before stepping off.

Marchers are encouraged to:
•    Wear light-weight, breathable clothing.
•    Comfortable/sturdy walking shoes
•    Bring a water bottle for use during the parade.
•    Wear sunscreen or other UV protective gear.
•    Check the forecast the day of and bring weather-appropriate gear.

Questions? Email Pastor T.C. at tmorrow@foundryumc.org.

Upcoming dates to engage:

Volunteering with Foundry

Read with Elementary Students

Beginning June 29, Foundry will read with elementary-aged students each Thursday morning on the following dates: June 28, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3 and 10, 2023. This is a great way to help students at critical reading learning age to help fight the "summer slide." Last year, we saw students increase their reading levels through the program. You can help by offering a few hours (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) on one Thursday or more to read with kids or have them read to you. Volunteers can be as young as 14, and we can coordinate for transportation. Register here!

For more information, email projecttransformation@foundryumc.org.

Foundry’s ID Ministry has returned to the first and third Saturdays of the month! If you are interested in a very meaningful and life-changing volunteer opportunity, ID Ministry is for you. Please email idministry@foundryumc.org if you'd like to get involved or learn more.
Join Foundry's Green Ministry Team!
Foundry’s Green Ministry team seeks to promote a culture of eco consciousness/ ecological ethics, provide opportunities for Foundry members to connect around sustainability, help Foundry move from short sighted conventional practices to creation loving practices and embed sustainability in all of Foundry’s missions. District-Wide Action Evaluation and Celebration

Join us on June 1 (location TBD) for the Spring 2023 WIN DC-Wide Meeting and Celebration. We will publicly announce our membership dues commitment. We'll also evaluate our actions with Councilmembers and others and celebrate our victories! We will begin the meeting with member rounds where one leader from every member institution publicly shares their membership commitment and dues commitment for the 2023 year. We do this as a practice to introduce our member institutions to one another and to demonstrate financial accountability and transparency to one another. If your organization still needs to submit your membership form for this year, please contact your organizer.

Register here. Questions? Email sacredresistance@foundryumc.org.
