All Things Foundry August 1–7, 2022
hospitality and congregational care

Join our Hospitality and Congregational Care team as an usher or greeter! Being an usher or greeter is a great way to help the Foundry community and meet new people. On Sunday, August 7 at 10 a.m., we will come together to discuss our ushers and greeters for the Fall and Christmas season. Join us at Foundry upstairs in room 203, or online via Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom link.

Foundry family ministries
back to school week

Foundry Youth Ministries will host their annual Back 2 School week from August 8–13. Our youth will take part in a variety of activities, from art classes to white water rafting and more. Learn more at foundryumc.org/back2school.

Foundry Family Ministries invites you to join us at the beautiful West River United Methodist Camp for a time of rest, recreation and fun. All are invited — whether you are a single, couple, parent, non-parent, grandparent, or friend, you are welcome! Accommodations are provided in lodges with air conditioning and bathrooms. Campers need to bring a sleeping bag, towel, toiletries, and a snack to share. Registration is now open.

Save the date for our upcoming parenting seminar, "Parenting a Liberated Child" on Saturday, September 10. The seminar will be led by RebeccaStevens-Walter, an intergenerational worship consultant and children’s liberation theologian. Our program will last from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., with lunch to follow. Registration to come!

Join our Great Day of Service team!
Believe it or not, it’s almost time to start planning our Fall Great Day of Service! We need your help to plan and carry out a successful day of packing meals. Please consider joining our Great Day of Service team! If you'd like to help our Social Justice team with this congregation-wide event, email Jackie Wright at jackie@foundryumc.org.

Join the Sandwich 1,000 Mission
The Sandwich 1,000 mission is looking for additional folks to join our pool of amazing volunteers. Sandwich 1,000 meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 6:30–8 p.m. in the kitchen at Foundry to make bologna and cheese sandwiches for Martha's Table and McKenna's Wagon. Currently, we are limiting our sessions to 10 volunteers per session to maintain social distancing, and we ask that all volunteers are vaccinated and wear masks while inside the church. If you are interested in joining our email list, please contact sandwich1000@foundryumc.org

Cook with us at Christ House
Please join fellow Foundry members the first Saturday of every month at Christ House, located at 1717 Columbia Road NW in Adam’s Morgan. Christ House is a 24-hour residential medical facility for unhoused men and women. Patients are admitted to Christ House from area hospitals, shelters, and clinics. Foundry cooks lunch at Christ House the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. If you are interested, contact Chelsey Jones at

Clothing donations continue to be accepted
We invite all members and friends of Foundry to continue dropping off adult clothing donations. We collect clothing donations on both Friday (9 a.m.–noon) and Sunday mornings (8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.). Our Social Justice ministry team then collects the clothing, sorts it, and prepares it for distribution at Charlie’s Place and other partner organizations.
