This Sunday is Baptism of the Lord Sunday — where we will remember the baptism of Jesus and celebrate the abundant grace of God that meets us just as we are, those whom God calls "beloved children." Pastor Jonathan will be preaching a sermon titled "Let it Be" focused on Matthew 3:13-17 and Psalm 29. Join us in person or virtually at 9 and 11:15 a.m.
Join us in person and online Sunday, Jan. 15 for Human Relations/MLK Sunday with Guest Preacher Rev. Enger Muteteke. Rev. Muteteke will preach a sermon titled “A Picture of Beloved Community” focused on John 1:29-42 and 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 both in our 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services.

2023 parking passes for the Colonial Parking Garage — located on P Street between 16th and 17th Streets NW — are now available for purchase for $250. Use this pass in place of payment during the following hours: Wednesdays from 7–9 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Foundry continues to work with Colonial Parking to identify a mutually beneficial and long-term solution. Foundry Social Justice
Foundry’s Sacred Resistance team will be monthly planning meetings in 2023 — the first will take place on Tuesday, January 10 at 7 p.m., both at Foundry and online. Foundry's Sacred Resistance team educates, organizes and empowers the Foundry community for advocacy and public witness addressing various social justice issues we are facing at both the local and national levels. Foundry offers free English classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:45–8:30 p.m. for students 17 years and older. Students may register in person on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Foundry from 6:45–7:45 p.m. The first class will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Foundry and the semester will end Thursday, March 30. Beginning next week, there are many opportunities to receive your Covid-19 vaccine or booster at Foundry or another church in NW or NE DC! Come to Foundry on Thursday, Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to get your vaccine or booster. See this digital flyer for more locations, dates and times. Share with your friends and neighbors!
In the late hours of Wednesday, Jan. 25 and the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 26, join the Foundry team taking part in the Point-in-Time Count. The Point-in-Time Count is the ‘census’ of unhoused neighbors in DC, which provides policy makers and funders the information they need on homelessness in the District. Volunteers are needed to canvass the Foundry neighborhood. Like last year, training will be available online. To join the team, email Jackie Wright at jackie@foundryumc.org.

Foundry Women's Retreat February 24-26 at Pecometh Retreat Center

Join the Women of Foundry and our sister Churches, for the relaunch of our in-person, annual retreat at Riverview Retreat Center, Pecometh UMC Camp in Centreville, Maryland. Dr. Rev. Katy Hinman will be our keynote speaker leading us in exploring the ways we can reconnect, reenergize and reinvigorate our journey and engagement with ourselves and others. Reverend. Scientist. Speaker. Hinman has been a guest preacher at Foundry and is Program Director for Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion (DoSER), a program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). 2023 Lenten Devotional Creative Workshop

We will hold a Creative Workshop for those interested in writing or creating art for the 2023 Lenten Devotional this Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in Room 203 at Foundry and online. There, you can learn about next year's Devotional theme and incubate ideas with your Foundry friends.

On Sundays from January 8–February 19, 2023, Pastor Jonathan and Discipleship Ministries will offer a six-week course on Mark as Story. We will read the entirety of the Gospel of Mark, then discuss its characters, setting, and plot to unearth new theological meaning. This course will be offered Sunday mornings beginning at 10:15 a.m. in room 202 at Foundry. Learn more and register here.

Help us plan our 2023 programs! On Sunday, Jan. 29, we invite all small group leaders, class leaders, and anyone who is interested in Discipleship to our 2023 Visioning Session. We will come together to think through what our 2023 programs will look like, discuss possible themes, and imagine the implementation of new groups and experiences. Be Our Guest: Disney Hospitality and the Church

Join Associate Pastor and Director of Discipleship Rev. Jonathan Brown for "Be Our Guest: Disney Hospitality and the Church." This six-week course will be offered on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. beginning March 19, 2023. We will take a look at the book "Be Our Guest: Perfecting the Art of Customer Service" by the Disney Institute — then discuss how Disney welcomes people into their parks and hotels, and what lessons the church can learn from this.
