Small groups are a critical component of life and ministry at Foundry Church. Small groups are location-based meet weekly or bi-monthly, generally in member’s homes, and foster space for prayer, fellowship, theological reflection, and intentional service. Each small group is different, and its members take responsibility for organizing and determining their own study and covenant together. Interested in learning more about a small group? Here at Foundry, our commitment is that these covenant communities embody four major and regular movements:
Foundry’s Fellowship groups offer great ways to gather with people of faith who share your interests, passions, and particular places in life. These groups gather every five to six weeks for various events and fellowship opportunities.
Space to reflect critically and carefully about the way one’s life experiences are shaped by our shared faith, and the ways in which our shared faith (does and should) inform our life experience.
The space to pray for and with one another, as well as to learn alongside one another how to pray.
Opportunities for a community (in a variety of fashions) to put into action the shared values/commitments of the covenant community.
This list is offered to help engage our experience and perspectives around race. It is shared as a resource and encouragement to raise consciousness and broaden understanding. The list is not exhaustive, though there are a variety of genres represented—fiction, non-fiction, history, memoir, and theology.
Foundry members are invited to read a book each month—or at least six of the twelve books numbered on the list before the end of February 2020. Read these on your own, with a friend, in your small group, or with your Sunday School class. Look for information on classes or book groups forming around these titles through the year and avail yourself of the opportunity to participate.
